What are your rates?
Our lessons start at a rate of $30 per hour for all general education courses. For advanced courses (such as AP/IB, SAT/ACT prep) or college essay/profile advising and coaching, our rate is $40 per hour.
How do I pay my tutor?
Payments are conducted through PayPal invoice. After your first lesson, your tutor will collect the email you'd like the invoice sent to, and you will be billed your lesson fee. Invoices are payable through Credit, Debit, or PayPal.
What is a “free intro lesson?”
You can schedule a free intro lesson by filling out this form. Intro lessons are 30 minutes long, and are a chance for students to become familiar with a tutor, the lesson space, and formulate a personalized plan for your academic success.
What subjects do you tutor?
We tutor grades K-12 in all STEM and English-based courses, including AP/IB courses. We also provide SAT/ACT prep and college essay/profile advising and coaching.
How long are lessons?
Lessons are primarily conducted in hour long sessions. However, our tutors are flexible and will schedule lesson lengths from 30 minutes to as long as you’d like.
Can a parent be present during a lesson?
A parent is always welcome to be present during a lesson. For grades 6 and under, we advise that a parent is present and helping the child stay engaged. However, for older ages, we prefer that the parent plays a passive role as it allows our tutors to better engage their students.
How does scheduling work?
Once you have requested an intro lesson, S4S will reach out to you with a scheduling link. Through this link you will see the available times for your intro lesson with that tutor. For further lessons, you will arrange the date with your tutor ahead of time or re-enter a request here.
What if I have to reschedule or cancel a lesson?
You can reschedule and cancel lessons up to 10:00 am EST the morning they are scheduled to be held. If you cancel after this time, we ask that you pay half of the session rate.
Can I switch tutors?
If you want to swap subjects, don’t mesh with a tutor’s teaching style, or simply want to try something new, you can always swap tutors.
Are my kids safe?
S4S Tutoring can personally vouch for the safety of its tutors. In fact, we all went to college or high school together! However, the safety of the student is our top priority, if you would like us to run a background check on any of our tutors, we will do so and provide you with a copy of the results free of charge, ahead of your first lesson.
